About The Event
No foot, no horse!
This course is ideal for the conscientious horse owner, student or professional who would like to learn more about caring for horses holistically, with a focus on hooves for soundness and high performance from the foot up. Do not be fooled by the title "Intro Level" as this is a detailed and comprehensive introduction to holistic hoof care! Do you have a laminitis prone horse or want to be proactive in keeping your horse sound and happy? This is just the day for you!
Beccy has over 25 years industry experience and will share with you valuable nuggests of information in an intensive, practical, hands on course at her yard at Holistic Reflections HQ on the fringe of the Lake District near Egremont. Learn more about Beccy here.
The course is a mix of lectures and workshop practicals and all participants will get an opportunity to try out what they learn in the classroom on the Circle Healing Centre horses at Yewcroft.
Topics included in this full-on day of learning include:
• Basic anatomy and parts of the hoof
• How to recognise a healthy hoof and horse
• When to call in the experts
• How to weight tape, conduct health checks and recognise signs of ill health
• How to take a digital pulse and recognise early signs of inflammation
• Checking for lameness
• Providing a healing environment (diet, exercise and lifestyle!) - inc. a walk around our developing Equicentral System at Circle Healing Centre!
• When NOT to ride!
Registration is at 8.30am for prompt start at 8.45am.
Drinks and snacks provided but please bring some lunch with you and please note there aren't any shops nearby.
Minimum participants 4, maximum 10 for optimum participant benefit!

About the Host
Beccy Smith B.Sc.(Hons) MIAEP DAEP EBW of Holistic Reflections.
Beccy is a Holistic Equine Consultant, Equine Podiatrist,/Barefoot Trimmer, Wellness Coach and Therapist at Holistic Reflections (formerly Holistic Equine based in East Yorkshire) with 26 years industry experience. Beccy is a qualified Applied Equine Podiatrist, SCENAR therapist and Equine Sports Massage therapist. She is also a qualified BHS groom and has an honours degree in Equine Technology and Business. Beccy provides unique consultations and services for horses, pets and people in and around Cumbria, the Scottish Borders and the North of England and supports the health, longevity and evolution of people, pets and horses. Together with her family, she is the caretaker of a herd of 5 incredible horses which live at their yard alongside their rescued dogs and cats on the fringe of the Lake District National Park.
